Music classes for children aged 6 months to 4 years.
Calypso Kids classes are adored by children and their grown-ups alike. Our classes introduce children to music and instruments in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment. What happens in a Calypso Kids class?
The class begins with the children asking Calypso the frog “What’s in the lily pad today?” When opened, the lily pad reveals the class theme and two instruments to be explored and played. Each week there is a new adventure – helping Calypso on the farm, digging in the garden, learning to count – however the structure of the classes remains the same so the children know what to expect. The children then have buckets of musical fun with the instruments and other carefully chosen props such as puppets, ribbons and scarves.
Songs are sung to aid speech and language development
The children participate in action songs to develop coordination.
Listening skills are developed as the children explore the instruments.
A variety of props are used to stimulate imagination.
The class ends with our goodbye song and a ‘high five’ from Calypso.

Family fun during school holidays
Calypso Kids offers fun-packed classes for the whole family during school holidays. These sessions are based around Calypso’s story books. Two activities run simultaneously during one class so that the whole family can participate.
Younger Calypso Kids 6 months - 4 years look in the lily pad to discover which instruments will help them retell the story
‘Big Kids’ from 4 years+ respond to the story with an art and craft activity which may include drawing, collage, painting, salt dough…

Class Guidelines
Adults are a child’s first role model so your involvement during class is very important. The more you join in, give encouragement and praise, the more your child and you will benefit from such positive interaction. Our guidelines are in place to enable all members of the class to have an enjoyable, relaxed and safe session so please follow them when you attend. Thank you.

Parents and carers must take full responsibility for the children in their care during the class.
Calypso Kids give children from an early age the opportunity to explore and play real instruments as well as ‘baby friendly’ ones. Help your child to hold and play the instruments as taught in class. Our younger children will enjoy listening and watching their grown-ups play the instruments, as well as being fascinated by the older children in the class.
To avoid collisions when collecting and returning instruments, guide your child to wait until a space becomes available.
Discourage your child from placing instruments or props in their mouth, if they do, please return these separately to the teacher to be cleaned.
Apart from collecting and returning their instruments, children should sit down with the instruments/props unless directed by the teacher.
Children should not wander around with an instrument or prop to avoid injury; adults must hold on to the item until their child is happy to return.
Please silence mobile phones once the class starts.
Please only take photos of your own child.
Please can parents avoid excessive chatting so as not to distract or disrupt the class. Remember it is a time to engage with your child.
With the exception of breastfeeding or bottle feeding, please refrain from eating and drinking during the class.
