Let Calypso Kids share our passion for music, art and storytelling.

Calypso Kids was founded in 2010 by Emma-Jane Roberts to provide high-quality creative arts education.

Emma-Jane has been teaching for over twenty years in Birmingham, London and now in South Warwickshire. Alongside her classroom experience, she was a deputy headteacher, and so she recognises the importance of high-quality provision that both parents and educators trust.

Calypso Kids provides creative, interactive classes for both long term curriculum delivery for PPA, short term projects such as topic-based workshops and extra-curricular clubs.

What we do

  • Storytelling Workshops

As a deputy headteacher, Emma-Jane had extensive experience booking workshops, so she knows what schools want.

Calypso Kids provides bespoke workshops that can incorporate any combination of storytelling, music-making, drama, art and dance.

Our original Calypso the Frog story books can feed into and enhance a variety of curriculum areas.

There is a strong focus on listening and speaking skills, and ensure children have a memorable experience.

  • PPA Cover

Calypso Kids provides professional PPA cover where the class teacher, senior leaders and parents are confident that the children are in safe hands. Our aim is for the class teacher to have undisturbed PPA time and a seamless transition for the pupils between Calypso Kids teacher and their class teacher. Lessons are carefully planned following our Creative Arts Curriculum and can be tailor-made to enhance the school’s curriculum topics. Effectively delivered and assessed by an experienced teacher. All pupils are engaged and excited about their learning. All instruments and art resources are provided.

  • Extra-Curricular Classes

Calypso Kids offers lunch time and after-school clubs for the age group of your choice – EYFS to Year 6.

Clubs range from 30-60 minutes and can include performing to the school community and parents.

Story telling incorporating music, movement and drama.

Learn to play a tuned instrument – recorder or chime bars -and perform to an audience.

Arts and craft where the children respond creatively using a variety of media.

“The children look forward to music with Calypso the frog and Mrs Roberts as they are all actively involved - playing instruments, singing songs and moving to the music with different puppets and props. The structure of the class helps them to listen carefully, respond to the music and learn the names of the instruments and how to play them correctly. It is a great opportunity for every class member to participate, developing their confidence and creativity in a fun, relaxed atmosphere!”
